Fresh whisky sours

180ml whisky, such as Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey
120ml freshly squeezed lemon juice (4 lemons)
120ml freshly squeezed lime juice (4 limes)
160ml sugar syrup, recipe follows
Ice cubes
Maraschino cherries

For the sugar syrup

240ml water
200g caster sugar
1) Combine the whisky, lemon juice, lime juice and syrup. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice and pour in the drink mix to 2/3 full.

2) Shake for 15 seconds and pour into glasses. Add a maraschino cherry and serve ice cold.

For the sugar syrup:
1) Bring sugar and water to the boil and simmer until the sugar is completely dissolved.

2) Chill before using.
