2) In a medium bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt together using a fork. Cut in the vegetable fat until the mixture resembles polenta.

3) Add the cheese to the bowl. Stir in the buttermilk all at once, until just blended. Do not over stir.

4) Drop the mixture by tablespoonfuls, or use an ice cream scoop, onto a well-greased baking sheet. Brush the dough with the melted butter. Bake for 12-15 minutes.

This cheese biscuits recipe is so delicious, they’ll be ‘scone’ in sixty seconds!

If your heart goes a-flutter for bakes full of butter, this Cheddar baked biscuits recipe is the cream of the crop! While the American biscuit is famously the fluffy sidekick to fried chicken and barbecue, its roots echo the British scone and even share spirit with French gougères or Italian focaccine. In every culture, there’s a place for warm, buttery, cheesy breads that bring people together!

And if you’re looking for iconic biscuit and cheese recipes, this delicious option is practical to make at home. Self-raising flour and baking powder give them a sky-high lift, just a whisper of sugar to balance the salt, vegetable fat for hearty structure, butter for flavour, and a splash of tangy buttermilk to keep things cloud‑soft on the inside. Then comes the star turn in this cheese biscuits recipe - a big handful of grated sharp cheddar that melts into gooey pockets and crisp golden edges, giving each bite a serious savoury punch.

This is a cheese biscuits recipe that knows no borders when it comes to serving. Try them American-style with a deliciously decadent cider-brined fried chicken or a good helping of peppery gravy, or go British, split and spread with salted butter or a splodge of chutney. Fancy a Parisian twist? Serve them with a bowl of soup or with soft cheeses like camembert or reblochon. Or you can always head to the Med with prosciutto, roasted peppers, or honey and ricotta.

As biscuit and cheese recipes go, this one’s as gouda-s it gets, and if you’re looking for more sensational savoury bakes, how about a classic Italian focaccia with garlic and rosemary, an iconic Southern jalapeno cheddar cornbread, or a batch of warm, homemade soft pretzels.
