The second week of September brings with it plenty of new dining opportunities, from those that need no advance booking (music to a Londoner's ears) to those more, lets just say... adventurous. As well as a new M&S food hall that exceeds all expectations...
M&S Pantheon's Glow-Up
M&S and its selection of picky bits is known for its elite food halls across the UK. And just when you thought it couldn't get much better, a sparkling new version of M&S Pantheon's chamber of delights has been revealed! The branch between Oxford Circus and Tottenham Court Road has had a significant glow-up, and its food hall now features a shiny new sourdough pizza bar, a sit-in café, as well as a dedicated rotisserie chicken counter, sushi counter and an entire wall devoted to rosé. It's every M&S-lovers dream, and a very valid reason to stop by Oxford Circus.
JWD Lamian Noodle Bar Comes to Canary Wharf
Canary Wharf has a new addition that's stirring up a lot of excitement. JWD Lamian Noodle Bar is a name you might recognise from its popular branch at Liverpool Street. The halal, hand-pulled noodle restaurant have now set up shop in London's financial district, giving hungry office-workers a welcomed alternative to meal deals and salad boxes. Plus, they're offering 20% off until the 23rd of September!
Punk Royal Arrives at Mayfair
This Friday, Scandinavian joint Punk Royal arrives in London, an opening which we predict will cause quite a disruption to Mayfair's shirt and tie establishments. The aptly named Punk Royal will blend chaos with fine-dining, a concept new to Mayfair, offering a "boundless, intimate and unapologetically messy" experience. The Menu Royale consists of a minimum of 18 courses, served with a carefully curated selection of beverages (alcoholic for £220, and non-alcoholic for £200.) With regards to what's actually on the menu, the restaurant tends to keep their cards close to their chest (iPhones are supposedly confiscated at their restaurants and cafés). However, they have revealed one dish on instagram- a snap of oysters poached in warm green curry and a frozen apple finish. With the likes of the 'Caviar Bump' (caviar licked off your hand with a shot of vodka) served in previous pop-ups, this might not be where you chose to take your in-laws. But your Tabi-wearing friend visiting from Berlin? Most definitely.
Nela Opens its Doors
Amsterdam, Ibiza and now London- Nela will be opening its doors in The Whiteley on Wednesday. The live-fire hotspot will feature an open kitchen, a "centrepiece bar", a private dining room and an outside terrace. Chefs Hari Shetty and Ori Geller have curated a menu that ticks every box for a dinner in the city with a raw & cured meat bar, woodfire pizzas, a list of succulent meats and fresh fish sizzling over a grill. Needless to say, narrowing the order down to a selection of dishes will be a struggle, but it's a struggle of the best kind. Bookings are now open.
Godet Welcomes Robert Khaing
Godet have announced that the talented Robert Khaing will takeover the kitchen from Wednesday the 10th. Robert blends his impressive Michelin-starred kitchen experience with the Burmese and Thai food he grew up eating, bringing it all to Islington's beloved neighbourhood wine pub. Expect nothing less than impeccable skill and inventive dishes such as Venison tartare with caramelised onion emulsion and toasted rice, and Burnt aubergine with pon ye gyi (Burmese fermented bean paste) dip and flatbread.
Kolamba Opens a Sister Restaurant
You've likely already heard of Kolamba, one of London's most-hyped Sri Lankan restaurants. Following their success in Soho, the chic Spitalfields joint opened in summer 2024. Now, giving Londoners the opportunity to experience Sri Lankan food in a more casual environment, ADOH! has opened in Covent Garden, serving the likes golden mutton rolls, chilli prawn toast, and isso vadai (a first in London). Refreshingly walk-ins only, with room for around with some alfresco space while the sun is still shining!
Dalloway Terrace's English Wine Dinner
On Wednesday the 10th, Dalloway Terrace will host husband-and-wife duo, Mark and Sarah Driver, from Rathfinny Estate for an English wine dinner. Pouring magnums of the finest English sparkling wines alongside four elegant courses, Mark and Sarah will tell the tale behind each bottle, delving into the techniques used to create some of their most sought-after cuvées. Spaces can be booked HERE for £90 per person.
