We'd recommend skipping the weekly shop- a fully-stocked fridge simply won't be necessary this week. With exciting new restaurants, notable birthday parties, and international pasta day, this is the time for appreciating London's food scene in all its glory. Read on to discover what to eat (and drink) in London this week.
An International Food Day Worth Celebrating
World Pasta Day is on Saturday 25th October and unlike many of the other international days in the calendar, this one is actually worth marking. Emilia's crafted pasta is celebrating with over 1,000 bowls of fresh, handmade pasta at their brand-new Victoria restaurant to give away. Now in its 8th year, Emilia’s annual pasta giveaway has become something of a London tradition, with their silky Casarecce Truffled Cacio e Pepe, slow-cooked Pappardelle Béchamel Bolognese, and new spicy Tuna Puttanesca among the previous year's fan favourites.
London's Only Wine Pub Celebrates its First Birthday
London's only wine pub celebrates its first birthday this month! Godet (French slang for “a glass”) opened on Essex Road in October 2024, transforming a Victorian neighbourhood pub into an understated yet stylish space, thus fulfilling North Londoners' needs for a pub with a wine menu that goes beyond house reds and whites. One year later, it's time to raise a toast to Godet’s tender age with £5 glasses of Pet Nat all night this Friday! As ever on Fridays, there’s a vinyl DJ to get the party started, and Ling Ling’s will be serving their delicious modern Chinese menu of snacks and big plates.

St. John's Bakery Gets an Upgrade
St John's bakery in Neal's Yard is closing. However, as the saying goes "when one door closes, another opens" and in this case, the other is just across the road. The new opening is much bigger and includes a bar that opens late into the evening. There's a short wine list and food menu so you will be able to order a glass of St John rosé along with a plate of oysters and a St John doughnut to finish. Part-bakery, part-wine bar... we couldn't image a more perfect establishment.
NattyCanCook's New Opening in Herne Hill
Nathaniel Mortley, also known as NattyCanCook, is opening his first permanent restaurant on Wednesday. 2210 will be officially opening its doors in Herne Hill to serve Pan Caribbean flavours, in an unapologetically fine dining setting. The menu will include the likes of Roti with Scotch Bonnet Butter to start, Lobster Rasta Pasta for mains and Plantain Cake to finish. With a cult following online and multiple sold-out supper clubs in the bank, we have a feeling this will be one to watch. In the words of the instagram bio, "This ain’t Grannies kitchen but she would be proud”.
A New Sunday Roast Offering
With its cobbled streets and vibrant flower market, Columbia Road has become the perfect Sunday in London destination. Once you've haggled down your house-plant and secured the flat white, The Brush East London Grand Café is the perfect spot to refuel with a Sunday Roast and Bloody Mary. The new menu features the crisp Classic Bloody Mary, the smoky, mezcal-spiked Bloody Maria with a smoked salt rim, and London’s Mary, a playful take featuring Plymouth Gin, fermented pickle, and celery salt, all for £10 each. Meanwhile, roasts include Striploin of Beef, Corn-Fed Chicken, Mushroom Wellington, and Whole Grilled Seabass, all with traditional trimmings, plus Prosecco for just £25.
Omakase To-Go has Reached Chinatown
Dong Hyun Kim has expanded his 'Omakase To-Go' spot, Sushinoya. Following the success of King's Cross branch, the flagship store in Chinatown has just opened, offering sushi made on-site daily, sourced from whole fish. This branch of Sushinoya will have an expanded menu, featuring cuts you won't find in a meal deal (we're talking yellowtail (hamachi) and eel (unagi). Plus, the founder of Wasabi (the restaurant, to clarify) has more plans up his sleeve- so keep your eye out for some exciting additions to Tottenham Court Road and Moorgate!
