What to Eat (and Drink) in London this Week: 13th April

This week, we welcome a restaurant promising flavours of the Med to Marylebone, as well as one centred around rum to Camden. We might be a far cry from the blue caves of Greece and the tropical beaches of the Caribbean, but at least we can eat well. What's more, a wine fair and an East-Asian roast menu arrives to spice the weekend up a little.

Here's what to eat (and drink) in London this week.

A Wine Festival at Hackney Wick

Ever find yourself ordering the house red and hoping for the best? Then we have just the weekend activity for you. Get to know your grapes at Pour Choices, a low intervention wine fair taking place this Saturday in Hackney Wick. With strictly no pretentiousness, Pour Choices spotlights local winemakers and producers for a day of interactive tastings, workshops and discussions. There will also be wild cider, beer, kombucha & vermouth, alongside food to pair with- think cheese, charcuterie & oysters. Final release tickets are just £22 and Includes 5x tasting tokens.

Rum Kitchen Makes a Come Back

This Thursday, Rum Kitchen returns, bringing bold flavour and bolder energy to the heart of Camden. To celebrate the opening, there’s 50% off food from 16th April-19th April, that's 50% off the likes of salt cod fritters, oxtail croquettes and coconut prawns sit alongside larger plates of curried mutton and Jamaican fried chicken and a dedicated jerk section featuring ribs, wings and boneless chicken. Behind the bar, rum takes centre stage. Close your eyes, sip on the Jamrock Punch, and be transported to a place far away from North-West London.

A Taste of the Med Comes to Marylebone

With the temperatures rising and alfresco dining no longer a distant memory, we're all craving the taste of the Med. Grilled fish, seasonal veg, the flavours of Greece, perhaps? Luckily, Chef Glen Ballis and Chef Louis Korovilas have answered our prayers, filling the empty corner spot on Chiltern Street with a new Greek restaurant, Clio. Very little has been revealed on their instagram, however we can expect a menu built around sun-soaked, coastal flavours, and given the experience of the renowned chefs behind it, our predictions is that this is a strong contender for the London summer restaurant of 2026. Doors open on Thursday!

Top Cuvée Does Roasts!

At the start of the month, GrillBird, led by Chef Ben Smith, began a residency at Top Cuvée in Highbury. Japanese-inspired Izakaya dishes and a low-intervention wine happy hour? It's a modern-day match made in heaven. To make things even better, they're now doing a Sunday Roast to pair with your tipple of choice. However, this isn't the usual meat, gravy, potatoes ensemble. Instead, they're serving East Asian twists on the classics- Cantonese crispy pork belly with fermented plum jam, sticky yellow chicken, kimchi cauliflower cheese, a sorely-needed fresh spin on Sunday dining. We couldn't think of a better place to ease off the Sunday Scaries.
