What to Eat (and Drink) in London this Week: 29th September

Just like that, back-to-school season is over, and it's time to pave way for pumpkins. October is starting as it means to go on, with lots of exciting additions to London's food scene. From bold Mexican & Mezcals in Stoke Newington to a new hotspot for cozy Sunday Roasts- here's what to eat (and drink) in London this week.

Il Bambini Club Comes to Shoreditch

Shoreditch has come alive with the spirit of Italy. Il Bambini Club is a vibrant, Italian trattoria that has just arrived at The Hoxton Hotel. The space is a balance of intimate and glamorous, equipped with a bustling bar and open kitchen, and a decor of green and terracotta tones, playful stripes and romantic florals. The menu has something to appease everyone- from signature pizzas to home-made truffle pasta, as well as larger plates, seasonal antipasti and an entire section dedicated to fried dishes. The cocktail list sports some quirky twists on the classics like the Amalfi Margarita, a sunny blend of Tequila and Limoncello. This restaurant is chic, extravagant, and the perfect setting for your weekend plans.

Marylebone's Latest Neighbourhood Pub

If you search for 'the best pubs in London', there are two names that you'll find on every list. The Pelican and The Hero are raved about by Londoners thanks to their cozy, rustic interiors and impressive Sunday Roasts. Unsurprisingly, they are owned by the same hospitality group, Public House. This week, that company are taking over what was The Flowerhouse Pub on Blandford Street. Now known as The Hart, Marylebone's latest neighbourhood pub will be serving the classics downstairs with a restaurant upstairs. If the success of their other two ventures is anything to go by, we have very high hopes for this one.

Thrift Tacos Come to Doña

Thrift Tacos have moved into Doña, in Stoke Newington, to bring together music, mezcal, and Mexican food- a combination of dreams. Until the 1st of November, they will be serving up daring Mexican plates every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. This isn't your typical carne asada in a corn tortilla. Expect the likes of a fish & chips tostada, squash blossom and bean tacos, and octopus recado. The combinations are bold, the flavours are exciting, and the options are for everyone - veggie, vegan and gluten-free included.

Finks at Clissold Park

October is an exciting month for Stoke Newington! North Londoners will be familiar with the name Fink's. The cafe group have branched out across Highbury and Arsenal, becoming firmly rooted in morning flat-white-and-pastry routines. On Wednesday, they will open a brand new branch in Clissold House, the Grade II listed building that sits proudly atop of Stoke Newington's stunning green space. The inside will be separated into three parts: the Kiosk, the Pink Room, and the Dining Room. Expect aromatic coffees and flaky pastries for some quick fuel, as well as a substantial menu for a leisurely lunch.
