In a city like London, there's always something happening. From new openings and trendy pop-ups to a queue of rumbling stomachs, eager to see whether the viral pastry is worth the hype. In fact, the sheer quantity of things to do in London can often lead us to missing out. We've all been there- eagerly sharing the event that catches our eye with our friends... only to find out it happened last weekend. Fear not, here at Food Network we've taken the liberty of scouring the streets of London to find out what's happening, and whether it's worth your valuable time in the city. Prepare to never miss a free food tasting again. Here's what to do and eat in London this week (18th August).
Notting Hill Carnival
Of course, it would be remiss to speak about events happening this week in London without mentioning Notting Hill Carnival. Carnival is back this year bringing the flavours of the Caribbean to the streets of West London. Aromas of Jamaican Jerk Chicken will flood the streets, while Trinidadian ‘Roti’, and Guyanese ‘Pepper Pot’ are a must try. If you don’t eat meat there are also veggie options at most stalls and an increase in solely vegan food traders this year. With over 300 stalls to choose from, there's no going hungry this year!
Hampton Court Palace Food Festival
From the 23rd-25th August, the historical setting of Hampton Court Palace will come to life with street food, pop up bars, boutique drinks and artisan producers, and so much more. The likes of Sticks'n'Sushi will be there with show-stopping platters crafted live by expert chefs, as well as Churros Garcia to satisfy your chocolate cravings. For a taste of the Med, Antolia will be serving up hand-stretched dough filled with spiced meats, cheese and spinach, cooked on a traditional hot plate famed in Southern Turkey. Frolic in the glorious grounds of Henry VIII's former palace, whilst delighting in new dishes and flavours- what a glorious way to spend the weekend. Book your tickets here.

The Raglan's Bank Holiday BBQ
From 12pm on Sunday, The Raglan in Walthamstow will be linking up with Andi Oliver to see the last Bank Holiday of the summer off with a Bang. Expect lobsters in naga butter, spicy chops, and Carlingford oysters and some Rum and Guinness punch to wash it all down. No bookings needed, just show up to see the summer off!
An Evening with Ridgeview at The Coal Shed
The Coal Shed at One Tower Bridge are joining forces with Ridgeview for a one-night-only celebration of 6 courses of English wine and fire-cooked food on Friday 22nd August. From the elegant Blanc de Blancs 2020 to a rare Sparkling Red Reserve – each wine is perfectly paired with dishes from The Coal Shed's fire-led kitchen, such as grilled scallops with corn salsa and sobrasada to start, an indulgent main course of prime rib and chateaubriand served sharing-style, and a dark chocolate tart with crème fraîche and raspberries to finish. Spaces are limited, so book now to join the table.
Fairgame's Second Opening
Fairgame is opening a second venture in inside One New Change, St Pauls. The fairground-for-adults will include the UK's largest indoor hook-a-duck game and mobility scooter racing. When the munchies kick in after some exhilarating competition, there will be juicy burgers from Burger & Beyond, posh kebabs from Le Bab and authentic New York pizzas from Alby's. And for the sugar rush? Prosecco-infused candy floss.
