What's to Eat (and Drink) in London this Week: 8th June

The heatwave is returning. We repeat, the heatwave is returning. Whether you're celebrating with a taco in the shade of South Kingsland Road's railway arches or a pale pink rosé on Marylebone's best people-watching terrace, there's lots to eat (and drink) in London this week.

Thrift Taco is Growing!

Thrift Taco are expanding! Alongside their residency at Howl at the Moon (the birthplace of their beloved Sex Mex spice bag), they have now set up shop outside Great Beyond, where they will be serving a taco-focused menu throughout June and July. The menu is built around outstanding British and European proteins - including farm-fed Wiltshire pork, British wagyu, and Galician ex-dairy beef - alongside veggies, heirloom tortillas, homemade sauces, fermented pickles and smooth salsas, plus tortilla chips fried fresh to order — all coming out of the same market stall tent that started Thrift Taco on Hoxton Street in March 2025. This week you can find them tucked beneath the railway arches just off South Kingsland Road, Thursday and Friday, 5-9pm, Saturday 1-5pm and Sunday 1-8pm.

National Rosé Day at 108 Marylebone Lane

The likes of Clean Your Desk Day (Jan 11th) and Fill Your Staplers Day (March 8th) give National Days a bad rep. One we can argue for, however, is National Rosé Day. It's this Saturday 13 June, and we have just the place to celebrate. Created in partnership with Château La Coste - a stunning biodynamic estate in the rolling hills of Aix-en-Provence - La Terrasse at 108 Marylebone Lane is serving signature rosé spritz cocktails, an exclusive selection of Château La Coste cuvées and magnums of pale pink rosé poured tableside. On the menu, Girl Dinner takes a trip to the South of France with brioche lobster rolls, Caesar salad and frites, seafood platters and cherry clafoutis with olive oil ice cream made from Château La Coste's own organic oil.

Duke Organic's Summer Party

This Thursday, Britain's first organic pub, Duke Organic, are hosting their inaugural summer fete. In their words, "A celebration of early summer and all that she promises!" Five Points Brewing Co and Lost and Grounded Brewers have sorted the beer for the evening, so first come first served until the keg runs out! It's on from 5.30pm till late, and we'd advise arriving nice and early.

Netil 360's Weekly Jazz Night

Netil 360's new Tuesday Jazz night starts tomorrow, with some of London’s finest jazz musicians filling Hackney's favourite rooftop with groove, the perfect way to welcome in the long evenings. £5 pints, 50% off pizza, and a £20 bottle of wine from 5pm to 7.30pm- it's time to make Tuesdays fun again. Get your free tickets here!

Chez Rose Opens in Mayfair

You may be familiar with Row on 5, the two Michelin-starred restaurant led by Spencer Metzger and Jason Atherton. If so, you'll be just as excited as we are to hear that the duo are pairing up again. Inspired by Spencer's grandmother, Rosemary, Chez Rose is set to combine seasonal British produce with the spirit and technique of classic French cooking in a relaxed, neighbourhood bistro setting. The menu is comprised of classic French dishes like steak tartare, oeuf meurette and frites, lots of frites. Its doors will open tomorrow, Tuesday 9th June, and you can book your table here.

Hausu's First Full-Bodied Event

On Thursday 11th June, Observer Drinks Columnist Hannah Crosbie, will join forces with comedian Cecily Hitchcock, to present their first ‘Full-Bodied’ event at Hausu. The evening will bring together wine, cocktails and comedy for a relaxed night of ‘sips and gigs’ at Hausu’s new listening bar in Peckham. After some seasonal small plates (which are worth the visit alone, we might add), head over to the late-night bar space where the duo will co-present an evening of comedy sets with a specially written menu of drinks, overseen by Crosbie and the Hausu team. Tickets for the evening will be available to book through Hannah’s website for £35 including three cocktails and seats to watch Dom McGovern (Comedy Award Nominee and Chicken Shop Date Co-Writer), Alice Brine (Comedian and Actress) and a surprise third guest.
