Ginger martini with sake

1 teaspoon chopped fresh ginger
2 tablespoons simple syrup (equal amounts granulated sugar and water heated until granulated sugar is dissolved, cool)
vodka, very cold
sake, very cold
crushed ice
paper thin cucumber slices, for garnish
1) Muddle the ginger and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker.

2) Add the vodka, sake, and crushed ice, to taste, and shake to combine.

3) Strain into a chilled martini glass garnish with cucumber slices and serve.
