We're on the homestretch! It's the final week of January, and whether it's celebrating Eataly's birthday, feasting on Afrofusion fine-dining, or simply planning your spring calendar- there's plenty of food and drink goings on to keep you entertained in London this week.
The Final Week of Early Bird Tickets for A Spring Wine Fair
Pour Choices (great name, by the way) Wine Fair returns to London this April with its biggest line-up yet. On Saturday 18th April, Hackney Bridge will be overflowing with low-intervention tipples alongside wild beer and cider, kombucha, sake, vermouth, oysters, and an expanded programme of tastings and talks from leading names in the natural wine world. Early bird tickets are available until 2nd February, so this is the last week you can get avail of the day at a discount and celebrate wild ferments, mindful farming, and the land they come from. Tickets include 5 x 25ml tasting tokens, a branded tasting glass to keep, access to all workshops and talks, and start at £17.
Shoppers at Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge Now Have a KURO Pit-Stop
Between the queues, the crowds, and the silent struggles that take place in a desperately warm changing-room, we can all agree that in-person shopping gets overstimulating, to say the least. Especially in central London. That is why every department store should always have a pit-stop, and Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge has gone above and beyond to provide one in its best form. 125 has opened as the 4th KURO destination on the ground floor, bringing its considered, minimalist approach to coffee, craft, and community to one of London’s most iconic luxury settings. Expect its iconic selection of exceptional specialty coffee blends and premium Single Origin offerings, alongside fragrant teas, traditional velvety matcha and a curated range of freshly baked goods - from delicate cakes and cookies to classic and seasonal pastries, including KURO’s signature cream-filled sakuras.
Afrofusion Fine-Dining Comes to Canonbury for one Weekend Only
Sadly, Canonbury's beloved wine bar and restaurant, Vins, closed it's doors to the public in December. However, it's not all bad news. They are still hosting private events, one of which is this happening this weekend. Chef Paule Beke (previously featured on Masterchef and a private celebrity chef) will be taking over the kitchen for two nights only on Friday and Saturday.
Chef Beke will combine French technique with global influences and her Ivorian heritage to deliver an Afrofusion menu, whilst the team behind Vins will be pouring the wine. Only ten tables are available each night, and the menu is priced at £59pp. Expect crispy chicken thighs, coated and smoked with Ivorian honey glaze, pan-seared zander served with attieke and Bissap delight, a Crème Brûlée-like dessert served with hibiscus gel.
It's Eataly's 19th Birthday!
This Friday and Saturday marks the weekend of Eataly Fest, a two-day walk-around foodie festival filled with tastings, signature dishes, live demos and celebratory moments across the Eataly store to celebrate their 19th birthday. From beloved Italian classics to exciting discoveries, it’s a festa that brings together everything Eataly stands for- quality, conviviality and the pleasure of eating well. Tickets start at £30.
Sartoria Opens its Fourth Location in Liverpool Street
This year, The Evolv Group are continuing their quest to expand Sartoria, with its fourth outpost opening this week. The new location will be neighbours with Liverpool Street Chophouse (another success story of The Evolv Group). The all-day menu celebrates ‘La Cucina Elegante’, to be paired with a Campari Spritz and a wine from the list focused on Italy and England. Cicchetti to nibble on, salads of octopus and carpaccio of beef, pasta dishes of caserecce and taglioni, as well as seabass and veal for mains. It all sounds blissfully, wonderfully Italian.
